Ploughing Championship 2022

DID YOU KNOW? The first Irish inter-county ploughing contest was held between County Wexford and County Kildare on the 16th February 1931, in a 26-acre field at Coursetown, Athy, County Kildare. Since then, the National Ploughing Championships has expanded to over 800 acres with 1,700 exhibitors.

Kerry College Admissions Team is delighted to be exhibiting at ‘The National Ploughing Championship 2022’, taking place in Ratheniska, Co Laois on September 20th, 21st & 22nd.

The National Championships (open from 9:00am to 6:00pm daily) is no longer just for ploughing or machinery enthusiasts! The modern day event now features something for just about every member of the community. These include a Tented Trade Village, a Food Fair, a Craft Village, Livestock trade, Forestry, Education, Lifestyle, Financial Services, Bio Energy and Agri Service. There are many entertainment and special events taking place catering to all ages.

Alongside the National Ploughing Championships this year, Ireland is hosting the World Ploughing Contest also in Ratheniska. With more than 25 countries competing this will be an event to remember!!
