Open Afternoon at Radio Kerry

Have you ever wanted to make your own podcast? Work in news, sport or music programming? Or learn more about audio recording, storytelling and digital journalism?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then you should attend the Open Afternoon at Radio Kerry! Running Friday September 9th from 2 to 4pm at their studio in Maine Street Tralee, it is sure to be an experience to remember.

Whether you are a media graduate looking for hands on experience, a Leaving Certificate student looking for something different, or think the media industry might be for you, then come along.  This is a wonderful opportunity to visit the studio in Radio Kerry and speak to a local presenter and teachers of the course.

The Introduction to Digital Journalism, Podcasting and Radio course commences in the Kerry College Digital Media Centre, Monavalley Campus this September.

This intro course feeds in to the yearlong Digital Journalism and Radio Broadcasting course, which starts in November. This accredited course includes a 3-month placement in a media organisation. There are no fees associated with any full-time Kerry College course.

Ian O Connell, a past learner of this very course, has been shortlisted for the Gay Byrne Award – Newcomer of the Year at this year’s IMRO Radio Awards.  Since completing his Digital Journalism & Radio Broadcasting course with Kerry College Ian has been working as a Radio presenter at Radio Kerry.  He has his own show “Stand Out” which is airs on Wednesday nights at 8pm. We wish Ian every success in the awards taking place this October.
