The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to work effectively in a care setting. It aims to promote good practice and respect for diversity in lifestyle, religion and culture in care work.

Course overview
It aims to promote good practice and respect for diversity in lifestyle, religion and culture in care work.
Please note all Learners must have competent written and spoken English (CEFR B2 or Higher).
This course will run during the day, Monday to Friday for 4 weeks.
What will I study?
Learners will be able to:
- Discuss the roles, responsibilities and entitlements of a care worker.
- Examine the role of a care worker within the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Demonstrate the ability to plan and provide enhanced quality care.
- Apply knowledge gained to plan and meet the needs of the individual client.
- Explore the need for personal planning and growth.
- Plan strategies to improve own personal development.
- Reflect on personal effectiveness as a care worker to include own strengths and weaknesses.
- Reflect on relationships with clients, relatives and multidisciplinary team members and interpersonal issues that arise in care work.

QQI Level 5 Minor Award Certificate in Care Support (5N0758)
What are the entry requirements?
- Applicants must have reached the current statutory school leaving age (16+).
- QQI Level 4 Major Award or its equivalent is essential (Leaving Cert, LCVP, LCA).
- Competent written and spoken English (CEFR B2 or Higher).
- Non-EU/EEA applicants must have permission to work in Ireland.
- Express an interest in learning and practicing new skills.
What are the fees?

A fee waiver is in place for applicants in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment. You can check your fee waiver eligibility with Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP), INTREO or your Local Employment Service (LES) office.
